The First Pullover for My Husband

It's been 3 years since I have started knitting.  I have finished the first pullover for my husband.

There is a tremendous difference between knitting a pullover for 2 year old son and for a grown up man. 
I am talking about the yardage. The total stitch count.
By knitting a pullover, you can literally feel the difference in size between 2year old man and 40 year old man.
 So, it took 3 years for me to knit the first pullover for my husband.

I am happy with the result.
He seems happy too.  He has been wearing it every weekends since I weaved in the last end of the pullover. 

pattern is Daelyn pullover.

Instruction is very easy to follow.
The shape around shoulder is very good. It fits around shoulders perfectly.

I tried to make M size, but it turned out to be S size.
I still have problems measuring gauge.  

Modification
Neck line was too tight and Back neck was not high enough, so I did stretchy bind off from left front raglan to right front raglan.


Back hem is not as long as desired.
My row gauge in Garter seems shorter than it should be.

 Back neck is not high enough. Next time I may add a few rounds of short-rows.

バナナチョコケーキ

今日のおやつに作ったバナナチョコケーキが大変美味しかったので、覚書に載せておきます。

dry  粉類を一つのボールに合わせ、

wet 潰したバナナと、砕いたチョコと、オイルを一つのボールに合わせ、

dryとwetを合わせ、

オーブンで180度で30分です。

ココナツオイルは普通のオイルに代え、

砂糖は2/3にしました。

LoveKnittingから毛糸を買いました

先月の話ですが、イギリスのＬｏｖｅＫｎｉｔｔｉｎｇさんから毛糸を買いました。
海外から毛糸を買うのは初めてです。

Cascadeはそれぞれ、私のセーターと、主人のセーターになる予定です。
Laceは、手持ちの１かせとあわせて、ストールを編みたいと思っています。
（が、きっとセーターに何ヶ月もかかると思うので、いつになるか分かりません。）

8/8（土）には、第一弾のMalabrigo Laceが届きました。
早い！2週間は覚悟していました。

こちらが届いた毛糸。可愛いラッピングです。

おまけらしきキャンディが一つ入っていました。

第二段は８/17（月）に届きました。
こちらは少し時間がかかりましたが、日本のお盆休みを挟みましたので、
日本についてから時間がかかっていたのかもしれません。

Cascade 220は、100g 200mの糸ですが、巻いてみたら結び目が全くありませんでした。

するすると気持ちよく巻けて、編み心地も期待が出来ます。
日本の糸に比べると、ほんのりとケモノ臭いような匂いがします。
これは羊のにおいなのでしょうかね？染色の何かの匂いなのでしょうか。
これは羊さんの匂いだと想像して、羊さんに生えたモコモコの毛をが色んな人の手にかかって、はるばる私の所まで来たのかしら、と考えたくなります。

この冬のうちにセーターが出来るように頑張ります。

向日葵が咲きました。

向日葵が咲きました。

2mになる特大向日葵のはずでしたが、1mほどにしかなりませんでした。

肥料不足でしょうかね？

昨日はこんな感じでした。

梅雨もあけて、すっかり夏ですね。

バラのクイーンエリザベスが咲きました

去年の冬に植えたクイーンエリザベスの最初の花が咲きました。

バラ園で見たクイーンエリザベスは手の平サイズでしたが、我が家のエリザベスはピンポン玉サイズです。

木が大きく成長すれば、花も大きくなるのでしょうか？

土や肥料の問題なのでしょうか？

小さいですが、自分で咲かせたバラは大変可愛いです。

一目ゴム編み止め

今までずっと苦手で、避けてきたゴム編み止めをやっと理解しかけてきました。

「あ、分かったかも」と、と思えたのはこの動画です。

なんとなく分かったこと。

(すみません、間違えてるかもしれません。ここ間違えてるよ！って分かる方はどうぞご教示下さいませ。)

1.  往路を手前から裏側へ、

    復路を裏目から手前へとすると、

    表目から行った針は表目に帰ってくる。

    裏目から行った針は裏目に帰ってくる。

2. 往路の針が入った目は外す。

→次の往路の入る目は必ず針の1番右。

3. 表目に針が入るときは表目を編むときのように入れ、目を外して、針はずっと手前側を通って表目を通る。

4. 裏目に針が入るときは裏目を編むときのように入れ、目を外して、針は裏側へ行き、針にかかっている一つ目と二つ目の目の間から表側に頭を出し裏側へ帰っていく。

ややこしー。

Kisslock coin purse

It is summer solistice. I am sitting on a sofa and crochetting a very warm looking coin purse. A mug full of hot tea is beside me. I got summer flu. 

Summer solistice is an interesting thing I think. Tempreturewise, it is not yet real summer, but it somehow feels like the summerest day. I feel it is a bit strange that from today on, the weather is going to be hotter by day, but daytime is going to be shorter by day. 

Kisslock coin purse

You need:

Yarn (about 40m)

Crochet hook 3mm

Kisslock metal flame 9cm

Fabric glue

Sewing needle

Thread

Beads(optional)

Gauge: Round 2, 12st circumference 23mm

sc - single crochet

ch - chain

join - join the last st and the first st using slip stich. 

Make a round bottom just big enough to cover your kisslock flame. 

If the bottom is too small or too big, it won't fit the flame.  If the bottom is just slightly larger than the flame, it should work unless fabric is too thick.  In this case, the purse will be fat and have gathers. 

Increase stiches are evenly distributed in order not to look like a hexagon. 

Round1: Magic loop, and 6sc to the loop. Pull yarn. Join. 

Round2: ch1, 2sc in every sc, join (12sc)

Round3: ch1, (1sc, 2sc in 1st) repeat 6times, join (18st)

Round4: ch1, (2sc in 1st, sc in next 2st) repeat 6times, join (24st)

Round5: ch1, (sc in next 3st, 2sc in 1st, ) rep 6times, join (30st)

Round6: (sc in next 2st, 2sc in 1st, sc in next 2st) rep 6times, join (36st)

Round7: ch1, (2sc in 1sc, sc in next 5st) rep 6times, join (42st)

Round8: ch1, (sc in next 3st,  2sc in 1sc, sc in next 3st) rep 6times, join (48st)

Round9: ch1, (sc in next 7st, 2sc in 1sc, ) rep 6times, join (54st)

My purse's bottom was a little too large. I had to squishe and force all edge into the flame.  It might be a good idea to stop at round8(48st).

Make next body part as long as you want.  I did 8 rounds. 

Round10-17: ch1, sc in every st, join (54st)

Weave in ends. 

Put small amount of fabric glue to the metal flame. Insert fabric edge to the flame. 

You do not need a lot of glue. Too much glue will be pushed out from the flame.

For secure attachment, I roughly sew them togather and wait a few hours or one day. 

You can sew fabric and flame either with or without beads. 

If you use beads, use beads that are bigger than flame holes. 

Stick a needle with thread from back to front through the hole, pick up a bead, and needle will go to back through the same hole. 

5月の西洋オダマキ 満開です

しばらく前の話なのですが、5月ゴールデンウィークが明けて家に帰ってきたら、
西洋オダマキが満開になっていました。

ウィンキーダブルは蕾の数が多いなと思っていましたが、

咲くと多くの花が集まって咲いている様子が大変可愛らしいです。

ピンクペチコート

こちらは草丈が高くなったので、倒れないようび支柱をつけてあります。

ウィンキーダブルほど花数は多くはありませんが、

こちらも濃いピンクを白のコントラストが可愛い花です。

セアノサスも、まだ赤ちゃん木ですのに

たくさん咲きました。

セアノサスは、小さな濃い緑の葉も綺麗です。

乾燥した気候を好むそうですが、

我が家の庭でも大きくなってくれるといいなと思います。

それにしても、写真が下手ですね。

ローズアンドホワイトにどうしてもピントが合いませんでした。

西洋オダマキ 咲きました

先週くらいから咲きそうになっていたオダマキさんが咲きました。


ピンクペチコート
名前のとおりピンクのペチコートのようなお花です。

ウィンキー ダブル レッドアンドホワイト

ウィンキー ダブル ローズアンドホワイト

ウィンキーの2本は、ピンクペチコートに比べると草丈が低く、蕾の数が多いです。
花数の多い品種なのでしょうか。
咲き揃ったらきっと綺麗なのでしょう。





カリフォルニアライラックも咲きました。

こちらも実は去年植えたばかりの赤ちゃん木です。
大きくなりますように。

Totoro toy

My first amigurumi is chu totoro.

I learned a lot in this pattern. 

-Intarsia

-Wrap and turn

-Putting arm ( I think I can use this skill when I make pockets.)

-Knitting very small tube (4st) in magc loop

I found intarsia especially difficult. I have to do some research and study how to knit intarsia clean and without gaps.

西洋オダマキが咲きそうです

今年の2月に植えた西洋オダマキが咲きそうです。

咲くのは来年からかと思っていましたので、嬉しい驚きです。

ピンクペチコート

逆光でホワイトバランスが少しおかしいですね。

蕾が開きかけています。

さらに次の日。繊細な感じです。

ウィンキー ダブル レッドアンドホワイト

これは蕾の外側(?)から赤いです。

赤と白の花が咲く予定です。

こちらの次の日。

ウィンキー ダブル ローズアンドホワイト

ゴールデンウィークに家をあける前に咲いて欲しいです。

Alva sweater

I found very cute toddler's lopi sweater pattern. I can't believe this pattern is free.  The sweater is simply adorable. Instruction is straight forward and easy to follow.  It knits up very quick. It took only a week.

Only mods I made was to CO 25 at sleeves. 

My son is going to wear this sweater when we will visit his grandma and grandpa at the end of this month.

Shark pencase

Shark pencase has been sitting in my queued list for long time.  I finally casted on and it took only two days (with my slow hands).

Following instruction would be too long I thought, so I shorten the body. Now it looks a bit like a whale. 

I have not bought eyes and zipper yet.

I will take him with me to my exam in June, hoping I am not going to feel alone. 

Pattern note

I modified tail a lot. 

Ch8, turn, sl st to second ch from needle, sc2, hdc2, dc2, dc2tog to base st, dc2tog to base st, ch8, turn, sl st to second ch from needle, sc2, hdc2, dc2, sl st to base st, turn, sc16 across(sc2 in 1st at tip), sc2tog, sc2tog, sc14across, sl st to base st.

野菜の苗を植えました

野菜の苗を植えました。

家庭菜園2年目、楽しみです。

左からトマト、ナス、レタスです。

うまく写真が撮れなかったのですが、各種種まきもはじめました。

ラベンダーかけ土あり、

ラベンダー 一晩給水かけ土なし、

ラベンダー 花壇に直播き 挿し芽の土、

花菱草、

花菱草 一晩給水、

花菱草 一晩給水 挿し芽の土、

青紫蘇

ラベンダーと花菱草は、いくつか異なる蒔き方をして実験をしています。

ドラセナ植え替えとポピーのこぼれ種

室内の鉢植えドラセナの植え替えをしました。

去年のカリフォルニアポピーのこぼれ種から、芽が一つ出ていました。

クイーンエリザベスに、うどん粉病らしき葉が2枚くらいありました。

イチゴとローズマリーとスカビオサ

イチゴとローズマリーとスカビオサの苗を植えました。

女峰が２つ。

とよのかが１つ。

イチゴはランナーという茎が出てきて株が増えるそうなので、ランナーがでたら手前に新しい苗を増やしたいと思っています。

でもどの方向からランナーが出てくるのかが初心者の私には分かりません。

反対側から出てきたら困りますね。

奥がローズマリー マジョルカピンク

手前がスカビオサ ブルーバルーンです。

ローズマリーは、1mほどの高さになりピンクの花が咲くとラベルに書いてありました。

楽しみです。

1日後の様子

イチゴもスカビオサも、葉っぱがピンピンしていて元気そうです。

Herringbone mittens

My sister was born in February, which is a good time of the year to born for those who have a knitter sister. There are countless options for knitting gifts.   

This year, I chose to knit a mitten.

Unused yarn running at the back is 3st at the longest, so pulling too tight or too loose is almost non-issue. 

Two layers of yarns make my sisters' hands toasty. 

I bought clover's ponpon maker. 

I used to make pom-poms using cardboard, but I really like my new pom-pom make after 1pom-pom. It uses less yarn. It is quicker. It is so easy to make a perfect round pom-pom. 

(My ponpon in the picture above is not perfect round, because I used recycled yarn  from my son's old sweater. I was too lazy to steam well. )
