私も近々自分に糸巻き器を買おう、と決心をしました。

ある日、こんな便利なものが紹介されていました。

なんというグッドアイデア！

紙だと、毛糸と一緒に持ってくるのを忘れたり、

昼間起きている小さい人に破られたりお絵描きされたり、

ペンを片付け忘れて翌朝落書きされそうになったり、

iPhoneのアプリもありますが、私は編み物をしている時間はしばしばiPhoneを充電している時間なのです。

iPhone充電ケーブルは、コタツのそばに無いのです。

欲しいです。このブレスレット。

Cable hat 2

Here is my cable hat 2, out of 3. 

This is a christmas gift for my mother. She would like it very slouchy, so it is fairly big. 

Rib is 28cm, laid flat. 

Edge to top is 26cm. 

Yes, it falls down if she look down. But it is how she wants it. 

I hope this hat will keep my mother warm during this winter. 

Cable hat 1

 Second finished Christmas present.

Cable hat for my father. 

I should name it cable hat 1, because cable hat 2 and 3 are waiting in line. 

I showed this picture, which is my 2 yr old son wearing grandpa's hat, to my mother and sister. They liked the hat very much so they want the same hats. 

This is going to be very busy December. 

Noble cowl

It is about time to think about christmas presents. I think this is the happiest and busiest season for knitters.

My first finished present. 

A cowl for my mother. 

This is also my first lace project.
Though 2 yarns were held togather, it os very thin and soft cowl.  I guess lace knitting is much more thinner and lighter than I expected.  My mother peobably need a nice pin brooch to wear togather with this cowl.  I hope it is not too thin for winter in Japan. 

My first fisherman's sweater

Finally! Finally! Finally!

I finished my first fisherman's sweater. 

In fact, it is my first adult size sweater. 

I started this project when I was a definite beginner.  I even didn't know it would be crazy for a beginner knitter to knit a fisherman's sweater. 

Well, it took more than a year.  I have also knitted some other projects.  I was on and off on this project. 

I frogged it in countless times for mistakes.  I even used wrong size needle once, when I took the needles off for the other projects and put them back on.  As I knit, my hands got looser so the cable patterns on the front and the back are slightly different width-wise.
Overcoming all these begginer mistakes, somehow all parts were put together. 

It is a sweater far from "perfect" sweater, but I love my first fisherman's sweater so much!

ぷにんぷかあさん

前川さなえさんの子育て漫画(絵日記？)ブログのファンです。

先日、なんと500万アクセス記念の本のプレゼントに当選し一冊頂いてしまいました。

メッセージとサイン入り

サインにはイラストも描いて頂いて、なんと可愛らしいのでしよう。

子育て絵日記ブログは世の中にたくさんありますが、前川さなえさんのブログが1番だと私は思っています。

ご家族4人ともそれぞれ本当に魅力的な人達で、愛情溢れる家庭なのです。

それでいてとても等身大です。

日本中、と言うか世界中のお母さんお父さん達が、同じことで悩んだり、喜んだり、ウルっとしたりしているのでは無いでしょうか。

私はお兄さんのいっくんが大好きです。優しくて、賢くて、とても良い子なのです。

そんないっくんの優しさと健気さが良く分かる、私が本の中で1番気に入ったページがこちらです。

前川さんに許可を頂いたので、1ページ載せてしまいます。

ハルちゃんの出産時、お見舞いに行った帰りのいっくんです。

声に出して笑ったり、ウルっとしたりしながら楽しめる「ぷにんぷかあさん」大変おすすめです。

小さい子供を子育て中の方にはもちろんですが、昔育てた方、これから育てるかもしれない方にもおすすめです。

多くの子育て本は笑える話、大変な話ばかりで、子供を産む前の私は「子育てってなんて大変な辛そうなことだろう」と思ってしまったりしましたが、「ぷにんぷかあさん」には子育ての喜び、楽しさ、子供って本当に可愛い、という話がたくさん描いてあります。

Thanks Giving Weekendです。
フォローしているアメリカのブロガーさん達が、感謝していることをリストされているのを真似して
私も感謝していることをリストにしてみたいと思います。

1　私を育ててくれた家族と、夫くんとずっしりさん（2歳）に感謝します。
家族のおかげで毎日私は大変楽しく生活をしています。

2　ずっしりさんのベビーブランケットを編んだことをきっかけに編み物と出会たことに感謝します。
毎日少しづつ編みものをしている時間が平和で幸せな時間です。

3　四季のある美しい日本の自然に感謝します。

4　ある程度治安が保たれ、具合が悪くなったら病院に行き保険で最低限の治療は受けられ、（問題はあるとは思いますが今のところは一応）教育も警察も裁判も選挙も機能している日本の社会インフラに感謝します。

5　贅沢は出来ないですが、着るものがあり、食べるものがあり、住むところがあることに感謝しています。

6　子育てと家事に専念させてくれている夫くんに感謝します。子育てに疲れて、夜帰ってくる頃には私が寝てることも多くてごめんなさい。


アメリカの感謝祭の習慣は良いものですね。
感謝するものをリストにすると、自分が恵まれた生活をしていることに気づきます。
そして、もっと良い人間になろうと思えます。

Nordic cap

I knitted a nordic cap for my husband.  Large part of my knitting time is consumed by my son's stuffs, so it is rare that something is made for my husband. Poor thing. 

The hat is designed by my favorite designer, Ms. Mariko Mikini. 

My gauge was 24st/10cm(4inch) with 3mm needle. 

Instruction was 27st/10cm with 3.3mm needle.  

I wonder how Ms. Mikini does it. Probably she knits very tight. 

I cast on 144st for rib and increased to 160st in body. 

Hat circumference is 56cm when it is not stretched, and 22.5cm from cast on to top.  It is a big hat. It fits loosely to adult male head. 

Cable vest

My mother gave me some old stash of yarn.  They must have sat on her shelf for decades. It is 100% wool, but it doesn't feel soft. 

I decided to make a sweater for my son to wear over pajamas. It would be a non-soft sweater, but it souldn't be a big problem since it is worn over pajamas. Probably I would use soft yarn at the neck. 

It turned out my calculation was way off at sleeves.  So I made it a vest. 

Well, it is just something he wears when he sleeps. A vest should do a good job. 

I used soft baby alpaca yarn at the neck. 

From this project, I learned large part of joy in knitting is probably the feel in hands. Knitting hard and stiff yarn was simply not fun at all. I even did not re-do sleeves because I hate to knit this yarn any longer. I was so happy when I was knitting neckband with soft alpaca yarn. The joy of knitting is probably joy of hands.

I decided to move my blog to Blogger service.

This is my first post in Blogger. I hope i will get used to this service soon.
